For a more sustainable beauty industry, we are committed to an eco-responsible approach. Each formula we develop is designed to offer quality products and meet the expectations of consumers who are increasingly sensitive to environmental issues.
But what exactly is an eco-designed formula at BEA?
At Laboratoires BEA, an eco-designed formula is defined in our formulation charter. These criteria are measured using an internal tool, Natscore®, which evaluates the formulas in the BEA catalog according to specific criteria:
- The naturalness of ingredients: our goal is a minimum of 95% ingredients of natural origin (according to ISO 16128), so we favor organic or natural raw materials.
- Number of raw materials: a limited number of carefully selected ingredients.
- Absence of controversial ingredients: we exclude controversial substances and/or endocrine disruptors from our formulas, such as certain preservatives, colorants, texturizing agents (silicones), and other ingredients containing phthalates, for example.
- Production: we favor cold or low-energy processes.
- Specific formulation: Vegan, water-free.
Since the introduction of Natscore® in 2022, we have seen a steady improvement in the number of eco-designed formulas, and today, 39% of the formulas developed by our customers are eco-designed. This figure is proof of our commitment, but it is also a challenge for the future. Every year, we strive to exceed our targets and make each product even more environmentally friendly.
But eco-design does not stop at formulation: our choice of packaging allows us to offer more environmentally friendly packaging. With this in mind, we apply the principles of eco-design based on the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, in order to optimize each stage of the packaging life cycle.
Faced with increasingly demanding consumers who rely on apps such as Yuka to decipher product ingredients, Laboratoires BEA integrates eco-design into every stage of cosmetic development.
